An iPod phone may be on the line

The Seattle Times reports on the possibility of Apple launching an mp3 phone because last week news came to light that Apple has had a US Patent & Trademark application approved for a portable wireless telephony device.

This is a logical extension and protects the future of their business as more and more mobile phones are turning into mp3 phones. Just take a look at Sony Ericsson which has produced very successful mp3 phones. Even Nokia has produced the N70 which I use and produces very good sound quality.

The Walkman phone helped treble Sony Ericsson's first quarter profits and Apple will see this as an opportunity too good to miss.

The iTunes / Motorola Rokr E1 was a basic introduction but only held 100 songs which no-where near competes with the various iPod variations.

It's certainly given us bloggers something to talk about and get fussed with!
